Glisser has been designed to be effective over regular Wi-Fi, 4G and 3G networks, but it is vital to ensure where possible every effort has been made to accommodate visitor numbers, to ensure a perfect audience experience.

This blog provides a basic checklist for venues and Wi-Fi providers to help you, as the event planner, and us at Glisser, assess venue technical suitability, and arrange any alternative solutions.

Wi-Fi

What is the downstream and upstream capacity of the connection at your venue? Can additional capacity be requested?

How many access points do you have? How are they located and are there weak areas of connectivity around the venue?

What is the up and download connection speed of the access points?

What is the maximum number of concurrent connections (up + down simultaneous) that your setup can handle?

Our application relies upon high rate of active polling our servers (5sec per device). Is there any hardware in place that may cap the capacity for user’s devices to send requests out?

Presenter Technical Setup

Does the venue have a wired connection for the presenter laptop on the podium, and/or, at the AV’s hub?

On-the-Day

Is there a dedicated technical member of staff for the event, available on the day, to handle any issues?

Does the venue have a Wi-Fi landing page for users to login and register?

Will all delegates use a single access code? Who will manage the username and password communications?

Contingency Planning & 3rd Party Solution

Does the venue have a Wi-Fi backup plan in case things go wrong (i.e. two separate Internet providers and different connection routes)?

How are any outages dealt with (what is the % frequency and duration of outages)?

If we were to use a 3rd party managed solution to provide Wi-Fi, would you be able to accommodate them?

Will a 3rd party provider have access to your venue the day before and day after the event to set up and take down their equipment?

Do you have any venue-specific requirements if 3rd party equipment is to be installed at your venue (e.g.locations where access points can and cannot be deployed)?
