Prezi comes up a lot in our conversations with clients. And for good reason – their software has really paved the way for new interactive presentation software to engage audiences. The very fact that old man PowerPoint now has a credible competitor should be cause for celebration. So are we truly in a new era of PowerPoint vs. Prezi?

Well, perhaps not quite yet. In those same conversations with prospective clients we’re usually also asked (with fearful anticipation) whether using Glisser will be similar to using Prezi. As with most presentation software tools (Death by PowerPoint anyone?) it seems Prezi can be rather marmite. Users have to really put the time in to ‘do’ Prezi properly, having to learn a whole new way of creating presentation content. One person even told us that using Prezi made him feel a bit sea-sick.

And while PowerPoint is undeniably flawed, it’s still opened by some 30 million users every day. Dismiss it at your peril. All of which is why we built Glisser as an easy-to-use tool that simply lets you bolt on the interactive presentation software and data capture features you want onto your existing PPT or PDF documents.

While we’re obviously biased, we think there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Our users simply upload their existing presentations, add in their interactions, and are ready to pass GO in minutes. After all, we find everyone’s usually got quite enough to think about in the run-up to an event, pitch or meeting….

Bearing all that in mind, we think it should be a case of the more the merrier in the presentation software market. The more options we all have as presenters, the more competition there’ll be – which nine times out of ten will lead (or should anyway…) to cheaper and more innovative products for us all.
